         Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a framed, semi-frameless shower door and frameless shower door?

A framed shower door has thinner glass relying on metal to strengthen the enclosure. A frameless shower enclosure is made up of 3/8” or 1/2” glass. This glass has greater strength and does not require a heavy metal framing around it. Semi-frameless shower doors use 1/4" glass and have a partial frame.

What are the advantages of a frameless shower door?

A frameless shower enclosure is aesthetically superior to other shower solutions, increasing the value of your home. A frameless shower door lasts much longer than a framed shower door, and eliminates metal framing.

How soon can you install my door?

Most doors can be installed as quickly as 2 weeks from receiving your order and measuring. In some cases, it may take longer due to custom finishes or configurations.

How much time does the shower door installation itself actually take?

Most shower doors take one to two hours to install but the installation may vary based on the design.

I don’t want clear glass because I heard it gets dirty faster?

Clear glass does not get dirty any faster than obscure glass. A quick wipe with a rubber squeegee after each use will keep your glass looking like new for years to come. For those who want to maintain the cleanest glass possible, we offer a glass protection application. Ask your salesperson to explain more about this product.

How wide should my door be?

A 26” or 28" door is our standard size for most enclosures. Larger openings may require a wider door or a combination of a door and side panel. Each situation is unique so we can work with you to provide the best solution to accommodate your specific needs.

How do I clean my shower enclosure?

To keep your glass free of potentially damaging water spots, we recommend using a squeegee after each use and EnduroShield Glass Coating be applied at the time of initial purchase.  Using a squeegee on a daily basis is the simplest and fastest way to avoid water spots and mineral deposit build up on your new shower enclosure. A NON-Ammonia glass cleaner is the only glass cleaner that is safe to use on any metal parts because, over time, ammonia can damage those metal parts and vinyl.

I don’t want to see any metal. Can I get completely frameless?

There are many ways to minimize the amounts of metal visible depending on the specific application. We will work with you to design an enclosure that satisfies your aesthetics while keeping safety, integrity, longevity and of course elegance in mind.

How tall should my shower enclosure be?

Framed and semi-frameless styles are typically 70 ¼” tall or 75" . A typical frameless glass enclosure height can range from 72” to 78” but can be as high as 96”. All heights over 96” require special engineering considerations that may require thicker glass or a header to support the increased weight of the glass itself. Standard heights typically cost less than custom height enclosures. Your salesperson will review and make recommendations when necessary.
